KX Product Usage Restrictions

This page explains how KX manage product restrictions.

Usage restrictions relating to individual KX products are listed below:

kdb+ Personal Trial Download

The following individual restrictions apply to kdb+ Personal Trial Download:

License Period: 12 months.
kdb+ Personal trial download is for your personal, non-commercial use.
Usage is restricted to a total of 2 computers, to a maximum of 24 cores per computer.
kdb+ Personal requires an always-on internet connection to operate. When installed, kdb+ Personal contacts the telemetry server to confirm it is licensed to run. If it cannot contact the remote server, the process terminates.
It cannot be used on any cloud, only your local environment.

The following individual restrictions apply to kdb Insights SDK Personal Trial Download:

License Period: 90 days.
kdb Insights SDK Personal trial download is for your personal, non-commercial use.
Usage is restricted to a total of 2 personal computers in executable code form.
The number of cores that the kdb Insights SDK Personal software is running on may not exceed a total of 24 cores per computer.
kdb Insights SDK Personal trial download requires an always on internet connection to operate. When installed, kdb Insights SDK Personal contacts the telemetry server to confirm it is licensed to run. If it cannot contact the remote server, the process terminates.

The following individual restrictions apply to KDB-X Public Preview Download:

KDB-X Public Preview is for testing purposes, and is subject to change based on feedback. It is not yet intended or permitted for production use.
Maximum 16GB RAM permitted for use by q.
Usage is restricted to a single physical or virtual instance.
Maximum number of secondary threads per q process is 4.
Maximum number of connections per q process is 8.
Running multiple processes within a single instance or deployment is allowed, provided the total RAM does not exceed 16GB. Registration of multiple Community Edition licenses to circumvent these restrictions is not permitted.
Combining use with commercially licensed, and evaluation licensed deployments is not permitted.
